The latest Government coronavirus cluster map shows three new clusters of coronavirus infection in Cornwall, though the number of cases in existing clusters appears to be largely falling.

The new clusters – defined as areas of three or more positive tests in a specific geographical area of 7,500 people – has been reported on the Lizard Peninsula, Perranporth and Goonhavern, and Saltash Town and Pilmere.

The data, is the latest available and relates to the period from September 24 to 30, shows a spike of infection in some areas, particularly in West Cornwall due to the outbreak at the Pilgrim’s Pride factory in Pool, although positive cases in the Redruth and Camborne area are mostly dropping.

A previous cluster map, for September 20 to 26, showed 142 positive cases of groups of more than three, while the data from September 22 to 28 saw a significant drop to 117.

The latest data, for September 24 to 30, shows 118 positive cluster cases.
