Welcome to Angarrack Christmas Lights
Every year since 1986, the residents of Angarrack Village have come together to create a magical display of over 85 Christmas lights throughout the village, shining from the beginning of December until 5th January.
What started as a small idea by a handful of people wanting to brighten the dark winter nights has grown year by year into a much-loved local tradition. By 2003, the committee had ambitious plans to create the famous 12 Days of Christmas displays.
Led by Debbie and Roy, this incredible project took seven years to complete, with each display becoming bigger and more elaborate than the last. Visitors often ask why there are crocodiles in the displays — one explanation is that the Lords needed a reason to jump over the river! They proved such a popular and fun addition that they remained in the following displays as well.
Debbie and Roy’s next major project was Santa and all his reindeer. Since then, there have been no large-scale additions, although in 2014 a circular walking route was created to help visitors enjoy the lights. More recently, we have added smaller displays, including a tribute to Key Workers in 2021 and the Engine House, designed by one of the children in the village.
While the lights are truly special, they now need refurbishment and upgrading using modern technology. It has taken nearly 40 years to create this wonderful collection, and we are now working hard to ensure it continues for many years to come. Our aim is to stay true to the original character and charm of each display while upgrading to safer, more energy-efficient 12v LED lighting.
