 TEXAS ROOTS IN THE UK

This Texas Troubadour has been performing for over 30 years both as a solo artist, as well as in various bands as lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist and lead singer, across the United States & Europe. Brought up during the classic 60's era on Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and the like, with blues giants like Robert Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy, John Lee Hooker, R L Burnside & Mississippi Fred McDowell having been on his doorstep, it is easy to see where his influences lie.

Semora has graced the same stages as Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Mayall and ZZ Top, covering a wide genre of music. He has played with punk/new wave band Stiff Kitty, industrial metal band Four Bolt Main, funk/hip hop band Fuzzy Logik, and lead guitar for country vixen Andra Townsend amongst other great artists.

Meet The Candidate - Cornwall Council Election

Nov 27 , 2012 - Tue - 7:00 pm

Joint Press Release from Gwinear-Gwithian and St Erth Parish Councils

Meet the candidates

Following the untimely death of Cornwall Councillor Ray Tovey, Cornwall Council will be holding a by-election to fill the vacancy for the Gwinear-Gwithian and St Erth Electoral Division. Polling day will be Thursday 6 December, 2012.

Before that, however, the Parish Councils of Gwinear-Gwithian and St Erth have got together to arrange a public meeting which they are calling “Meet the Candidates”.

The Chairman of St Erth Parish Council, Councillor Ted Taylor, said that “One of the main reasons that the turnout was so poor in the recent Police Commissioner elections was that voters knew little or nothing about the candidates and what they stood for. St Erth and Gwinear-Gwithian Parish Councils don’t want that to happen for the election of the Cornwall Councillor for their area and so all the candidates have been invited to attend a meeting to tell people why they believe they should be elected and then everyone will have the opportunity to ask the candidates questions to find out more about them”. He added that “We hope that after the meeting, voters will be able to make an informed decision about who they believe will represent them best”.

The Chairman of Gwinear-Gwithian Parish Council, Councillor Brian Pocock, said that “Ray was a first class – and much respected – Elected Member for our 2 Parishes, so we are looking for a candidate that can promote – and deliver- what both Parish Councils and their electors want and need. We are looking for someone who understands the needs of our communities and has the skills to formulate imaginative answers that are “win-win” for both Cornwall Council and the Parishes of St Erth and Gwinear-Gwithian”

The meeting is due to be held on Tuesday 27th November at the Hall for Gwinear commencing 7pm and is open to all.

Everybody is warmly invited to attend the opening party on Saturday 24 November of “Festivity! Interpretations of the amazing Christmas lights of Angarrack, Newlyn and beyond” This is a photographic exhibition by Nick Bradford in the third room at New Street Gallery in Penzance that celebrates the ingenuity of the lights’ creators, while presenting the amazing light displays as they’ve never been seen before. Angels come alive, stars explode and snowflakes dance. The images are startlingly fresh as Nick experiments with his camera to create vivid new imagery - without the aid of Photoshop!

Plus, with a broad range of Christmas cards, you will be able to spread the local magic far and wide. Proceeds from sales will be donated to the Angarrack Light Committee.

So come see the bright lights of Penwith in the wind-free warm & dry third room at New Street Gallery. The exhibition runs from 24 November – 7 December, Monday-Saturday 10.30am-5pm, with the opening party on Saturday 24 November, 6-8pm. For a sneak preview, visit www.flickr.com/photos/neonicko
