Family affair: New pub landlords

PUBLICANS Alan Connor and Sam Taylor have taken up the reins at the Angarrack Inn, near Hayle.

The husband and wife team – famed for their excellent food and love of local produce – say they plan to make their own stamp on the pub with "exciting" new menus.

The couple, who ran the Fox and Hounds at Comford for five years, won the St Austell Brewery Food Pub of the Year and the Cornwall Country Pub of the Year awards in 2008.

Regulars are to be tempted by Sam's homemade ice cream, which come in a range of flavours including chocolate and Cointreau, coconut and Malibu and lavender and honey.

They will offer a modern British menu, sourced from local ingredients, with fish from St Ives, meat from Launceston and vegetables from local farm shops.

Sam said: "We pride ourselves on our fantastic food, our warm welcome and our ambience – and they already seem to be going down well with the locals. The Angarrack is a lovely village pub with a great atmosphere."
