There are now 10 Covid-19 clusters in Cornwall, with a developing concentration of cases in the Camborne-Pool-Redruth area.

Government data published this afternoon (Wednesday) shows that Bodmin East, and Crowan, Wendron and Stithians, have also joined the Public Health England “cluster map” for the first time.

Overall there have been 20 new confirmed cases in Cornwall in the past 24 hours.

Public Health Cornwall director Rachel Wigglesworth told reporters this afternoon that outbreaks at HMS Raleigh, near Torpoint, and the Pilgrim’s Pride food factory at Pool, were being contained.

The clusters are:

Kingsand, Antony and Maryfield (Rame Peninsula) – 29

Pool and Illogan Highway – 17

Camborne East – 10

Camborne West – 7

Redruth South – 4

Redruth North – 4

Crowan, Wendron and Stithians – 3

St Agnes and Mount Hawke – 3

Bodmin East – 3

Lanreath, Pelynt and Polruan - 3

Councillor Sally Hawken, Cornwall's cabinet portfolio holder for education, said a total of seven schools or colleges were now missing year groups or "bubbles" and that about 500 pupils were isolating. She said Cornwall's school attendance was higher than the national average.
