21/10/2015 17:34pm Grant awarded to Hayle Harbour by the Coastal Communities Revival Fund
“Hayle Harbour are delighted that thanks to the Coastal Revival Fund, the Heritage Sluices at Carnsew will be fully automated. This is great news and a real boost to the Harbour,” explained Harbour Master Peter Haddock. "It’s one more piece in the regeneration of Hayle Harbour and will cause a huge amount of regional interest. People will come from far and wide to watch the sluicing and of course it will have a beneficial impact on the operation of the harbour.”
The grant took considerable time to assemble and Deputy Harbourmaster Lauren Bambury was in charge of the application. “The Sluicing is of significant importance to the harbour and we have had a lot of local interest in the automation of the sluices. We are working closely with ASDA on a future application involving additional work relating to the sluices and of course as always we welcome the interest of the Community and Save our Sands in the process.”
David Tugwell added on behalf of the owners of the Harbour Corinthian, “we are working on further plans that will help improve the facilities at the harbour itself and create a better environment around the harbour to live and work.”
